Maximise availability and minimise headaches with the most flexible and powerful buffer features. Almost all of the below are not considered by competing apps.
Not all orders are the same. Obviously less buffer time is needed before and after a rental when the customer is picking up and dropping off the items, as opposed to needing them shipped both ways. Other apps fail to recognise this and it's crucial to maximising your calendar availability.
Set your default or individual rental buffer days as either calendar days or business days, so weekends are taken into account when determining how much buffer is needed before and after each rental for postage and/or after-rental care (e.g. cleaning).
Know a rental is going to take a bit longer than normal for delivery or return shipping? Manually increase the buffers on that rental by a day or two, without changing the customer's rental dates. Other apps use settings for the store or at product level, without ability to adjust an individual rental.
Allow customers to toggle between pick-up and post and the widget instantly updates the dates available for selection in the calendar based on your buffer defaults and rules for each delivery method.
If using "business days" as your buffer type, PRP will skip any dates you've set up as public/bank holidays for your region, ensuring you don't get caught out!
Set the number of days notice required, and the cut-off time for last minute rentals. E.g. allow customers to select a delivery date that's 2 days from now, only if it's before 2pm. After 2pm time it would allow 3 days from now.

Just create an insurance product in Shopify and link it to the insurance add-on in PRP. You can even control the insurance price based on the rental price thresholds you define - so you for more expensive rentals, you can charge more for insurance. Make it opt-in, or opt-out.
View rentals for a product on a calendar view. Easily work out whether a new rental can fit in. Hover on existing rentals to see details such as whether it's pickup or post and what buffers have been set.
Block out particular date ranges, either for your whole store or for individual products/variants. If an item's in for repair, or required for a photo shoot, you can make sure the calendar's blocked.
You can even use blackouts to start accepting rentals for product that you've ordered but haven't received yet, just blackout the period from the current date until the date you expect to have it available.

Offer both rental and purchase options for a product from the one product page. If a customer selects your purchase option, the PRP rental widget hides the availability calendar and allows the customer to add to cart & checkout - creating a regular Shopify Order, without created a rental record in Product Rentals Pro.
This can be a great way to get rid of older rental inventory and make room for new. Customers looking to rent, may actually buy instead if you make the price attractive.

Product Rentals Pro is free to install and free to use until you make it live on your website. Once live, you'll be limited to creating/entering a total of 10 rentals before you need to subscribe to a plan.
PRP won't work for businesses doing rentals by the hour or for parts of a day. It's designed to work only in full days.
It's also designed to work with Shopify's variant and pricing system, and as such products can be rented for a set number of days, driven by a duration variant option (e.g. 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 30 days). It doesn't currently allow a customer to choose a random number of days (but this is coming really soon!).

The majority of apps in this space require that you set up your products in Shopify a similar way, so there are usually no changes required in this regard.
The remainder of the set up can all be done on a duplicate of your live theme, so that configuring and testing PRP doesn't impact your live site in any way. When you're ready to go, just publish the duplicate theme and you'll be live with PRP!

Each of our plans (Starter, Growth and Volume) come with a limit on the number of rentals per month.
In this context 'rental' means a rental record within Product Rentals Pro. Each rental can have many products within it.
It is similar to an 'Order', just that technically a Shopify Order can result in multiple rentals being created in Product Rentals Pro, if the customer orders multiple items, with some having different rental dates. Each unique set of rental dates on an Order will result in a separate rental record in Product Rentals Pro.
